Biofuels: Good or Bad?

11/15/08 23:25

Biofuels were meant to help save the environment but it seems like it does the opposite. These biofuels is from plants might have been adding the net emissions of green house gasses as it will occupy more lands, more land conversion (forest to farm) is being made. More detail how biofuels will worsen the Global Climate Change on the link below.

Butanol over Ethanol

11/12/08 23:20
Ethanol, as a biofuel, is considered the King so far, having the highest political and technological support so far. However, it does have its limitations, which makes us wonder if there are any other alternative to this alternative fuel.

The answer may come in the form of butanol. Sadly, though, technological activity in this area is not that high yet. It may take years for this fuel to overtake ethanol in the biofuel race.

Germany pushes for soy and palm oil ban in biodiesel

11/01/08 14:46
Personally, I won't produce food for fuel if I know that this will keep the prices of food up. I'd rather have the food eaten than used to fuel my car.

Germany, the largest producer of biodiesel among European Union, has already proposed to remove soy oil and palm oil from the list of sources of biofuel if they cannot be produced sustainably and have no effect on food production.
